This is a (+power) spring for the AR15 magazine catch produced by Forward Control Designs.
There's two advantages to using a stiffer spring:
1. For rifles equipped with a BUR catch: It increases load capacity of the Back-Up Retention feature for unseated mags. Allows higher (heavier) capacity unseated mags to be retained on the BUR feature and stay retained after a recoil impulse. Actual round count increase will vary rifle to rifle.

2. Increases the amount of force required to depress the magazine catch button. When your rifle is slung your mag catch button can be vulnerable to getting bumped thus releasing the mag. Using a (+p) spring may aid in preventing this.
FCD's (+p) springs are 30% stronger than mil-spec and are made from corrosion resistant stainless steel.
